This is an original acrylic painting on canvas inspired by my husband’s first PET scan for cancer. What we saw was a large tumor in an aggressive state. We decided that throughout his treatment we were going to choose joy. We were going to change the way we saw his illness. We were going to take the bad and find good in it in some way.
Our New Pathway
This is an original acrylic painting on canvas inspired by the MD Anderson hallway on the 3rd floor in the main hospital. During my husband’s 9 months of chemo, we walked that hallway many, many times. It was our new pathway in life. It reminds us that no matter where life takes you, you have to adjust, adapt, and take a new path.
This is an original acrylic painting on canvas inspired by my husband’s chemo burns. His chemo regimen was pretty rough. Early on, he started forming chemo burns. Again, throughout this trial in our life, we chose to see the good. These burns were painful, but they also represented the treatment that he was receiving was working and healing him.
Breaking Not Broken
This is an original acrylic painting on canvas inspired by my husband’s chemo side effects. He lost his hair pretty quickly. One evening, I walked into the bathroom to find him sitting on a stool trying to shave what little hair he had left. He hesitantly asked me to do it because he was too weak yet knew it would be hard for me to do. Again, we chose to laugh a little and make the best of it. His body was breaking down, but he was in no way broken.
We Are Here To Love
This is an original acrylic painting on canvas. The painting was done for a dear friend. She was married in the Dominican Republic and she is always talking about spreading love because that is our purpose here on earth.
This is an original acrylic painting on canvas. This painting was done for my dear grandmother. I was inspired by her and my late grandfather. They were cotton farmers and spent many hard years working in their cotton fields. I have so many memories of the stories that they would tell. The Alabama song “High Cotton” described them both so perfectly and was used in their 50th wedding anniversary video.
